Jason was educated at S.U.N.Y. Cobleskill and graduated in 1992. He has since started two successful landscape contracting businesses that have led to a career encompassing many challenges within the industry.

- Jason graduated from the State University of New York with a Bachelor of Technology in Plant Science. His concentration of landscape business management, with an emphasis on sales, human resources and financial management served as an early educational foundation for his future career success. Jason also received an associate degree in landscape development from the State University of New York in June of 1990.
- Graduating first in his class, Jason was ready to begin an internship with a top-ranked landscape contracting firm. In 1992, he completed a fifteen-week internship with the fifth-largest landscape contractor in the United States. In this role, he was exposed to field work, management training, estimating, purchasing and enhancement design.
- Upon finishing his internship, Jason put his solid education and experience to the test. In May of 1992, he formed his own company, Environmental Plantscapes. He built the business from the ground up and specialized on custom landscape design and installation. As owner and operator, his responsibilities included design and sales, estimating, bookkeeping, human resources, materials and equipment procurement, marketing and client relations.
- In 1998, Jason was offered a landscape designer and salesman position for a prominent landscape firm in Erie, Pa. In this position, he was an integral member of an award-winning design team for distinguished landscape design and was an instrumental figure in the re-shaping of the organization's accounting basis.
- Jason also participates in several member-based organizations, including NALP — National Association of Landscape Professionals and the Builders Association of Northwest Pennsylvania. In fact, Jason has been the recipient of multiple awards for Landscape Design from the Builders Association of Northwest Pennsylvania.
